It was a dominating performance on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee as Florida St. crushed Wake Forest, 52-0, in front of a capacity crowd at Doak Campbell Stadium. The game was over by halftime as the Seminoles went up 38-0 and never looked back.
Seminoles quarterback E.J. Manuel threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 48 yards and one score on the ground. But senior tailback Chris Thompson put up the most impressive stat line of the day. He fell just three yards short of becoming the first Florida State player since 1988 to rush for 200 yards in a ball game.
Thompson finished the day with 197 yards on just nine carries, good for an impressing rushing average of 21.9 yards per carry. In the second quarter he had back-to-back scoring plays of 74 and 80 yards which helped Florida State bury Wake Forest. The win brings the Seminoles record to 3-0 on the season as they now look forward to playing the Clemson Tigers next weekend.
