The Marlins were defeated by the Mets on Sunday for the third straight game as New York completed the series sweep in Miami. New York score all of its runs in the first inning.
David Wright brought in Ronny Cedeno to give New York a 1-0 lead. Then later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Jason Bay blasted a homer to right-center field for a grand slam.
Justin Ruggiano was 2-for-4 at the plate and recorded a RBI double for the Marlins only run. For the Mets, this is their seventh win in eight games and the first road series sweep of the Marlins in five years.
