2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: David Ferrer, Andy Murray Advance

Perhaps the biggest headline of Sunday's third-round of the 2012 U.S. Open is Andy Murray once again putting off retirement as he defeats Fabio Fognini to advance to the round-of-16.

Murray took the first two sets 7-5 and 7-6 before appearing to tire. Murray dropped the third set 4-6 and trailed briefly in the fourth set before bouncing back to win 6-4. Murray announced that he will retire following the U.S. Open so he goes into each and every match knowing that it could be his last.

Earlier in the day David Ferrer knocked off former U.S. Open champ Lleyton Hewitt 7-6 (11-9), 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. Ferrer is the tournament's fourth seed but is rarely talked about among the tournament favorites. However, he moves on into the fourth-round thanks in large part to 72 unforced errors committed by Hewitt in Sunday's match.
