Florida Gators Defense Improving In The Right Areas

The Florida Gators have shown key improvements on the defensive side of the ball this season, especially when it comes to pressuring the quarterback, forcing turnovers and closing out games, according to a report in The Gainesville Sun which quoted Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn:

For us, it's been kind of part of the plan to build some depth and be able to have more of a rotation where we could go longer into the games and feel like at the end of the games, we could still have a chance to affect the quarterback. That was one thing we really wanted to address and it's been a big emphasis for us. We'll continue to do that.

Florida, which is off to a perfect 3-0 start and hosts Kentucky on Saturday, has held opponents scoreless in the fourth quarter this season and is allowing just 17 points against per game. The Gators also boast a plus-three turnover margin and have picked up five sacks.

I think it's certainly a factor," Quinn told The Sun. "Every time you can go out there and know that at the end of the game you need to have some people that are fresh and able to go rush the quarterback. I think it's an important thing that can be overlooked.
