Buccaneers Release Preston Parker, Sign Tiquan Underwood

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made some roster moves at wide receiver on Thursday, releasing Preston Parker and re-signing Tiquan Underwood, whom the team originally cut in pre-season.

Over at Bucs Nation, they've got a post trying to figure out what the front office's thought process was:

The two are very different players, with Underwood being more of an outside deep threat while Parker is strictly a slot receiver. Having signed Jordan Shipley and with Arrelious Benn returning from injury, though, the Bucs likely feel like they have adequate depth at slot receiver, even with Sammie Stroughter's foot injury which could turn into a long-term deal. Parker's value had strongly diminished the past few weeks, as he was stripped of punt return duties after multiple muffed punts this year.

Parker, a third-year WR from North Alabama, had 40 catches for 554 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2011.

Underwood, a fourth-year WR from Rutgers, has only 11 catches in his NFL career.
