Marlins Vs. Mets Final Score: Miami Offense Can't Keep Up As Marlins Lose, 7-3

The Miami Marlins lost to the New York Mets Friday night, 7-3. The Mets took the lead early, combining for five runs in the first two innings, and Miami's offense was never able to answer.

Justin Ruggiano left the game in the bottom of the fifth with a sprained shoulder after attempting a diving catch on what turned into a triple for Scott Hairston. Bryan Petersen replaced him in left field.

Starter Jacob Turner takes the loss for Miami. He pitched five innings, giving up six runs on eight hits. The bullpen had mixed results. Dan Jennings threw a scoreless sixth, but Wade LeBlanc gave up a solo home run in the seventh. Carlos Zambrano held the Mets scoreless in the eighth, and the game came to a close without seeing the bottom of the ninth.

The Marlins struggled at the plate, going 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position and stranding four men on base. Donvan Solano and Austin Kearns had the only RBI on the night.

Miami falls to 66-85 with the loss. Game 2 of the three game series is scheduled for Saturday at 1:10 p.m. ET.
