JU Vs. Dayton 2012 Results: Jacksonville Steals 21-17 Victory Over Flyers With Late Return TD

An 85-yard kick return touchdown from Colby Walden with a little over a minute to play was the difference maker in the Jacksonville Dolphins' 21-17 road victory over the Dayton Flyers.

It looked like the Flyers (1-3) were going to hang on to win this one when QB Will Bardo found freshman WR Ross Smith for the 5-yard touchdown pass with a 1:39 left to play. Those dreams were dashed just 16 seconds later with one clutch kick return.

The Dolphins (3-1) cut into an early 10-0 deficit in the second quarter when Andre Addison brought an interception back 43 yards for a touchdown. QB Kade Bell helped Jacksonville take their first lead of the game after he hit tight end Andrew Robustelli for a 22-yard score on his only catch of the day.

That 4-point advantage would hold until late in the fourth when the aforementioned fireworks happened. The kick return allowed Jacksonville to be victorious despite being out-gained in the total yardage department 388 to 252.

Box Score Hero: No one had any particularly flashy stats but Flyers senior RB Robert Washington did average 15 yards per carry on just five totes.

Rankings Ramifications: These teams aren't anywhere close to being on the national radar but Jacksonville is officially 1-0 in Pioneer league play with the win.
