The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without linebacker Daryl Smith when they host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. Smith has already missed the first three games of the season with an unspecified groin injury.
"I don't think so," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters on Monday about Smith being available for Sunday's game. "We're going to move him into another phase of more football drills which is a good sign."
Smith, a nine-year veteran out of Georgia Tech, has played his entire career in Jacksonville. Last season with the Jaguars, he tied a career high with 107 tackles and had 3.5 sacks. Before the 2012 season, Smith had missed just four regular season games. He'll match that total if he does sit against the Bengals.
The Jaguars have struggled on defense this season. Jacksonville is allowing 412 yards per game, which ranks 28th in the NFL. The Jags rank 17th in points per game, giving up 23.3.
