The Jacksonville University Dolphins host the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday, looking to put together their fourth straight win. After getting blown out in their season-opener, 58-0, the Dolphins have outscored their opponents by a combined 85-37 and are 3-1. The Dolphins have also won 15 straight home games, the longest such streak in the country.
According to Dolphins head coach Kerwin Bell, running the ball will be key to a Dolphins victory. That was key in the Dolphins' 56-14 win over Marist two years ago, as he told the team's website:
"We took care of them then and you say ‘why is that?','' he said. "Because we ran for 433 yards and we complemented that with a high percentage passing game( 13 of 21). They play three down linemen and a 3-5-3 defense and on pass downs they'll drop all eight guys and rush only three. They were one of the top defenses in the conference, and in certain areas the nation, last year. We couldn't run the ball at them last year and we really struggled.''
JU is averaging only 107 yards on the ground through their first four games. The offense has been centered more around quarterback Kade Bell and receivers Dorian Guy and Adrian Riley. With a home winning streak on the line and the game taking place homecoming weekend, the Dolphins will need to find a way to make that rushing attack work.
