Rory McIlory won the BMW Championship with a 5-under, 67 final round on Sunday, finishing with a 20-under for the tournament, which was two strokes better than Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood.
Tiger Woods recorded a 4-under, 68 on Sunday to pull within three shots of the lead and finish in a tie for fourth place with Robert Garrigus at 17-under. Mickelson came into Sunday's action as the tournament leader but his 2-under, 70 on Sunday wasn't enough to hold off McIlroy.
Along with Mickelson, Vijay Singh was atop the leaderboard after Round 3, but he scuffled on Sunday, shooting a 1-over 73, and ended up finishing in eighth place, five shots off the lead.
McIlroy became $1.44 million richer with the tournament victory.

A group of four golfers share a lead at 17-under Sunday at the 2012 BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood share the lead. Vijay Singh is one shot back at 16-under.
Mickelson took a one-stroke lead briefly at 18-under after he birdied the par-5 fifth hole, but a bogey at the par-4 seventh sent him back down to the pack.
Tiger Woods is tied for sixth at 14-under. He's at 1-under for his round Sunday through eight holes.
Bubba Watson, the 2012 Masters champion and native of Bagdad, Fla., is in the clubhouse with the lowest round so far Sunday. He shot a 65 Sunday to finish at 12-under for the tournament. He's currently in a tie for 13th place.
The top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings after the completion of Sunday's round qualify for the TOUR Championship from Sept. 20-23 in Atlanta. Singh is right on the fringe; if he were to finish the tournament in fifth place, where he currently is, he'd be 29th in the standings.

Vijay Singh tried to hold off Phil Mickelson for as long as he could, but sometimes golfers just get so locked in there is nothing that can be done.
Mickelson hit a stellar eight-under on Saturday to launch himself into a tie with Singh for the top spot on the leaderboard at the BMW Championship. It is a bit crowded at the top, though, as the two only hold a one-stroke lead on the field and five golfers are sitting with two strokes.
Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Ryan Moore opened the day trailing Singh by one stroke. Only McIlroy was able to keep pace, matching Singh for 3-under on the day to sit tied for second place with Lee Westwood at 15-under overall.
Woods and Moore's days were a bit forgettable. Woods was 1-under on Saturday to drop down to 13-under overall and Moore played himself a bit out of contention, going 1-over on the day.
Adam Scott and Robert Garrigus played their way into contention as both golfers hit 6-under on the day to tie with Dustin Johnson for fifth place. The trio sit two strokes back of Mickelson and Singh.

Vijay Singh has successfully held off a strong surge by both Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott to retain the top spot on the BMW Championship leaderboard during Saturday's action.
Mickelson has vaulted himself into second place, playing so far on the day with a 7-under as he sits on the final hole. Scott isn't too far behind, hitting 6-under on the day through 15 holes.
Both trail Singh however, who has done what it takes to stay ahead. Singh has hit 4-under on the day and currently is through 11 holes. He leads Mickelson by two strokes.
He entered Saturday's third round action one stroke ahead of Rory McIllroy, Tiger Woods and Ryan Moore. All three golfers haven't been able to keep pace. Woods and Moore are both golfing par on the day through 12 and 11 holes so far. McIlroy has fared slightly better, barely, by going 1-under on the day. He sits four strokes back of Singh now.

Singh collected seven birdies on the day, only having trouble with a bogey on the fourth hole. Tiger struggled on drives, hitting 13 of 18 greens in regulation, but made up for it with only one miss on putts from within ten feet, to finish 5-under for the round.
McIlroy, who opened the day in the lead, was inconsistent all day. After opening with two birdies, he bogeyed No. 4, birdied No. 5, picked up another bogey on No. 7 and finished the front nine with a beautiful eagle. Three more birdies and two bogeys left him at 4-under for Round 2 and out of the lead.
