The No. 24 Florida Gators defense clamped down on the Texas A&M Aggies in the second half as the Gators came back from a 17-7 deficit to win their first SEC game 20-17.
It was all Aggies all the time in the first half as Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel had his way with the Gators defense, who lost four players due to injury in the second quarter.
But in the second half, Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel orchestrated a slow and steady race to put Florida back in the game. The Gators defense forced the Aggies into two consecutive 3-and-outs in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter Jeff Driskel hit Omarius Hines for a big 39-yard pass to set to plow the Gators into the red-zone. Running back Mike Gillislee picked up his second rushing touchdown of the day
The Gators spoiled the Aggies SEC debut as they won their first conference game and improved to 2-0 overall. The Florida Gators next travel to Tennessee to take on the Vols in another SEC road match.
