The Irish are up against an Alabama defensive line that spearheaded one of the most stifling defenses in the nation during the regular season.

As the 2013 BCS Championship game approaches, Notre Dame's offensive line is focused on doing what it can to slow down a disruptive and talented Alabama defensive line. Irish left tackle Zack Martin said he thinks this is the best group his team has had to face all season.

"I think collectively they will be the toughest defensive line we face," Martin said. "We have played some talented players, but collectively Alabama is the most talented. They are big, physical and have guys that can stop the run."

The Crimson Tide's defensive line anchors a defense that finished the regular season ranked first nationally in total yards and rushing yards allowed per game. Alabama also ranks 26th in sacks per game, with an average of 2.5.

Notre Dame gave up 1.3 sacks per game during the regular season, which ranked 28th nationally. The Irish also relied on the offensive line to open up holes for a ground game that averaged more than 200 yards per contest.

The Seminoles' offense will have a size advantage in the trenches but are preparing for a hard-fought contest from the Huskies.

Northern Illinois has one of the smallest defenses that Florida State will face this season, but Seminoles players and coaches have a healthy respect for what the Huskies have been able to do despite their stature, and they are expecting a tough matchup in the 2013 Orange Bowl.

Seminoles quarterback EJ Manuel said his offense will have to match the disciplined play of NIU's defense.

"I just see a lot of guys that run to the ball and give great effort," Manuel said. "They’re well-coached. They seem very disciplined on film. So we’ll have to do the same thing – be very disciplined and just execute our offense."

Northern Illinois has just one defensive tackle on its two-deep weighing more than 300 pounds, and its starting linebackers are all shorter than 6 feet tall. Still, the Huskies finished the regular season ranked 34th nationally in total defense and 18th in scoring. They held five opponents to seven points or fewer.

Tampa Bay should be nearly at full strength for its final game of the 2012 season, while the Falcons could be missing some key players.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons released updated injury reports Friday.

The Bucs should be near full strength on Sunday, as only guard Roger Allen (groin) is listed as doubtful, while every other player is listed as probable. That list of Bucs probables includes tight ends Dallas Clark (illness) and Nate Byham (illness), center Jeremy Zuttah (ankle), cornerback E.J. Biggers (hip), tackle Donald Penn (not injury-related), defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (hamstring) and cornerback LeQuan Lewis (knee).

The Falcons may be without some key contributors, as both wide receiver Roddy White (knee) and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux (ribs) are questionable. Defensive end Cliff Matthews (hamstring) and defensive tackle Corey Peters (knee) are also questionable, while both cornerback Christopher Owens (hamstring) and safety William Moore (hamstring) are out.

Atlanta has already locked up the No. 1 playoff seed in the NFC, while the Buccaneers will be looking to finish the year on a strong note; Tampa Bay has been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Miami is going for its second win in a row and trying to keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Miami Dolphins are still mathematically alive for a playoff berth, and they'll need to defeat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon to keep themselves in the picture. Four AFC teams have already clinched playoff spots and eight have been mathematically eliminated, including the Bills.

The Dolphins are coming off a 24-3 victory over Jacksonville last weekend, which snapped a two-game losing streak. They are 2-3 over their last five games. The Bills are riding a two-game losing streak and lost 50-17 to Seattle last weekend.

Both teams have injuries to key contributors that could affect the outcome of the game. Miami wide receiver Brian Hartline, who has more than 1,000 receiving yards this season, is questionable. Defensive end Mario Williams and running back C.J. Spiller are two notables on Buffalo's injury report, though both are expected to play.

Odds: Miami is favored by 4.5 or five points, depending on the sportsbook.

Jacksonville is trying to pick up its first victory of December and also put an end to a three-game losing streak.

The Jacksonville Jaguars hope to end a three-game losing streak when they host the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon. At 2-12, Jacksonville has no playoff berth to play for, while the Patriots have already secured the AFC East crown.

The Jaguars lost 24-3 to Miami last weekend, and they have scored a combined 13 points over their last two games. They rank 31st in the NFL in total offense and they're averaging just 15.6 points per game.

New England lost to San Francisco last week, but prior to that it won seven games in a row. Offense has not been an issue for the Patriots this season, as they lead the NFL in total yardage and scoring.

But the Patriots do have several key offensive contributors banged up. Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez are among the players listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Maurice Jones-Drew is out again for Jacksonville, as is Rashad Jennings.

The Bucs are going through a rough stretch, but they'll have an opportunity to put an end to it against the Rams.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will try to snap a four-game losing skid when they face the St. Louis Rams on Sunday afternoon. That losing streak dropped their record to 6-8 and also eliminated them from playoff contention. At 6-7-1, the Rams are not in much better shape, but they do have a slim shot at making the postseason.

The Bucs lost three of their last four games by eight points or fewer, but they're coming off a 41-0 blowout loss to New Orleans. The Rams are coming off a 36-22 loss to Minnesota; prior to that, they'd won three games in a row.

On the injury front, both teams are in relatively good shape.
