No. 7 Florida had little trouble dispatching Marquette on Thursday night, leading almost wire-to-wire in a blowout victory. Elsewhere, North Florida defeated Florida A&M in an intrastate battle.
Here's a quick recap of the college basketball action in the state of Florida on Thursday night:
No. 7 Florida 82, Marquette 49
The Gators spent little time messing around, overwhelming the Golden Eagles from the start en route to a blowout victory at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Florida never trailed and shot 50.9 percent from the field while holding Marquette to 41.2 percent shooting. Six Gators scored in double figures, led by Michael Frazier II's 17 points off the bench. Patric Young, coming off the bench for disciplinary reasons, added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Gators moved to 6-0 on the year, while the Golden Eagles fell to 5-2. Vander Blue's 20 points led Marquette.
North Florida 72, Florida A&M 47
The Rattlers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but from that point, it was pretty much all Ospreys. North Florida led by as many as 15 in the first half and cruised to an easy victory. Florida A&M shot just 32.6 percent from the field and a woeful 15-of-30 from the free throw line. Parker Smith led North Florida with 18 points as the Ospreys improved to 3-4 on the year. The Rattlers dropped to 1-6.
