Florida significantly improved its third-down success rate last Saturday. The Gators converted 12 of their last 14 third downs in a 38-0 shutout against Kentucky. Such a high percentage stood in stark contrast to Florida's third-down performance against Bowling Green, Texas A&M and Tennessee. According to the Gainesville Sun, the Gators only had 11 third-down conversions in those three games combined.

"I was pleased with our offensive production on third down," Gators coach Will Muschamp said. "I thought we did a good job of moving the chains and keeping drives alive."

Muschamp was especially satisfied with how the offense executed third-down passing plays.

"I think that the throws have been there in previous games, and we haven't necessarily got them with the protection or whatever the issue," he said. "But we had some throws there (against Kentucky) and we made the plays, we made the catches and we made the conversions. And I'm very pleased."

Florida will need to keep up its success on third down during its next game, an Oct. 6 tilt against LSU.
