The Florida Gators took a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, but after that the Gators were outscored by the Georgia Bulldogs 21-3 the rest of the game. Right before halftime, the dogs scored on a touchdown pass from Aaron Murray to Michael Bennett on 4th down. Georgia was trailing 17-3 after Jeffrey Demps returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown after Georgia pulled within a touchdown.
Georgie got the ball first after halftime, but the teams wound up trading punts until the Bulldogs pulled off another fourth down touchdown to tie the game. Murray went to the jump ball again, but this time wide receiver Tavarres King from 14 yards out on fourth down. It was a terrific catch by King that tied the game. After Florida kicked a field goal to take a late 20-17 lead, Georgia began to take the game over.
Florida quarterback John Brantley was harassed all game long as sophomore linebacker Jarvis Jones sacked Brantley four times. Brantley was still dealing with his ankle injury, so he was a sitting duck in the pocket and couldn't even take snaps from center. The Bulldogs stifled the Gators offense and began to run the football on the Gators defense, as the Bulldogs went on a 9 play 45-yard drive that was capped off by a Richard Samuel go ahead touchdown to put the Dawgs up 24-20.
After John Brantley was sacked again on 4th and 10, the Bulldogs ran out the clock for the win. Brantley ended the day completing 12 of 33 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, but a large chunk of that was on a screen pass on the first play of the day. Florida was held to -19 rushing yards on the day, with both Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey getting banged up in the game.

The Bulldogs started the second half in excellent field position after a face mask penalty on the opening kickoff, but failed to really move the ball on the drive. After a 13-yard run by Isaiah Crowell, the drive stalled and Georgia punted the ball. Fortunately for the Dawgs, the punt was down on the 1-yard line, pinning Florida deep.
Florida ran the ball three straight times, but had to get creative with it because John Brantley still can't take snaps from under center. On third down, freshman Jacoby Brissett took the snap under center to pitch the ball to Chris Rainey, who was nearly tackled for a safety. Georgia got the ball back near midfield after the punt. The Dawgs failed to do anything with the field position, even with Florida missing Florida linebacker Lerentee McCray, appears to be done for the day with a shoulder injury. On the drive, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray scrambled on 3rd and long, but was tackled hard by the Gators defense. Murray got up limping to the sideline and was clearly in pain with a thigh injury after taking a helmet to the leg on the tackle.
Once Florida got the ball back, Brantley nearly hit Chris Rainey for a big gain over the middle, but once again Rainey dropped the ball. On the very next play, Frank Hammond caught a short pass and fumbled the ball. It was recovered by Shawn Williams of Georgia, who was suspended for the first half of the game. Four plays later, Aaron Murray hit Tavarres King in the endzone on fourth down to tie the game, 17-17.
Andre Debose returned the ensuing kickoff 63 yards to put Florida right in striking distance. Georgia's defense was able to hold up however, as Florida had to settle for a field goal and took back the lead 20-17. On the ensuing drive, Georgia marched right down the field, but Aaron Murray missed on three straight passes once the Bulldogs were in the redzone. The drive was capped off by a missed field goal by Blair Walsh, his second miss of the day.

Georgia began the second quarter deep in Florida territory, but their drive stalled out thanks to some blitzing by the Florida Gators defense. Bulldogs kicker Blair Walsh drilled the field goal for Georgia to cut into the Florida lead, 7-3.
Unfortunately for a Georgia defense that had been playing fairly well didn't even get a chance to hit the field before Florida's next touchdown. Jeffery Demps took the kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Demps hit a seam on the return and just turned on the jets to give the Gators a 14-3 lead. Surprisingly, that was Demps first career kickoff returned for a touchdown. Florida added to their lead on the next drive, driving down the field for a field goal to go up 17-3.
Georgia got the ball back and mounted a long drawn out drive, running the football with Isaiah Crowell. On a drive that went 14 plays for 61 yards, Georgia's kicker Blair Walsh missed the field goal. On Florida's next drive, Chris Rainey fumbled the ball on 3rd and 25 that Georgia recovered. Georgia found themselves in 4th and 5 in field goal range, but Mark Richt decided to go for it. Aaron Murray threw the ball to Michael Bennett, who went up for the ball with a defender on him, but came down with the touchdown to cut the Gators lead to 17-10.
Florida takes a touchdown lead into the half, but Georgia gets the ball first and will be looking to get their offense going. The injured John Brantley has been hot and cold, yet to take a snap under center and is clearly hobbled. Georgia has been blitzing him nearly every play. He's been sacked five times in the first half.

The Florida Gators won the toss and took the football first, as the mystery as who would be playing quarterback for the Gators was revealed with John Brantley leading the first drive. Brantley started the game off with a 72-yard bubble screen to running back Jeff Demps, who broke out of an initial tackle that should have dropped the play for a loss, then ran through two arm tackles to hit the sideline and run another 50 yards. Florida's drive stalled out in the redzone however, settling for the short field but back up kicker Brad Phillips missed wide right.
Georgia got the ball on their own 21-yard line and quick picked up 15 yards on a pass from quarterback Aaron Murray. Florida forced the Dawgs to punt a few plays later however, stuffing their running game. Florida got the ball back and immediately picked up 20 yards on a passing play to running back Chris Rainey. On his first carry of the game however, Rainey went down with a right ankle injury. A few plays later the Gators found themselves in 4th and 19, deciding to go for it because kicker Caleb Sturgis is still out with an injury. Georgia forgot to cover the middle of the field as Brantley hit a wide open Jordan Reed for a 31-yard touchdown to take the lead 7-0.
The turnover bug that has plagues Georgia in this game the past decade struck once again as Aaron Murray was picked off by Marcus Roberson. Florida got the ball back on the 13-yard line, but went backwards on their first three plays and wound up punting the ball. Georgia got the ball back and began their drive with a 22-yard run by Isaiah Crowell. Thanks to a few penalties, Georgia has moved into striking distance as the first quarter ends.

Florida Gators running back Chris Rainey just went down with a right ankle injury after being tackled in the backfield for a loss on a running play. Rainey took the hand off from quarterback John Brantley and was immediately wrapped up and brought down for 3-yard loss. Rainey's ankle appeared to get caught under the defender and became twisted.
The run by Rainey was the Gators first running play of the game and they're already dealing with an injured Jeffery Demps. Demps had a 72-yard pass reception to start the game, but he was caught from behind Demps has also been dealing with a leg injury that has limited his speed.

The status of Florida quarterback John Brantley was up in the air, even heading into the game against the Georgia Bulldogs. During pre-game warm ups, according to the many on attendance in the press box, all signs seemed to point to Brantley getting the nod to start.
Michael DiRocco, the Gators beat writer for the Florida Times-Union sent out these tweets about Brantley during warm ups:
Heavy tape on John Brantley's right ankle. He's throwing in the end zone. Brantley is taking drops and bouncing on his ankle pretty good. Looks promising.
Gator AP writer Mark Long points out Charlie Weis heading to the booth rather than staying on the sideline.
Weis' move upstairs means John Brantley is starting. He would never be in the box with a true freshman QB.
About an hour or so later however, Brantley disappeared and freshman Jacoby Brissett began taking snaps with the first team offense.
Still no John Brantley on the field. Jacoby Brissett working with first-team in pass drills.
Jacoby Brissett working with first-team offense for Gators. Still no Brantley. He remains in locker room

The Florida Gators have had a disappointing season so far, but things are beginning to look up for them. After having a bye week this past weekend -- you can't lose those! -- the Gators are finally getting healthy. During Monday's press conference, head coach Will Muschamp stated that most of the team's injured players are on track to return this upcoming weekend against #22 Georgia, including starting quarterback John Brantley:
"We feel like John will be ready to go for the game," Muschamp said. "As we progress through the week we'll know more about his status. We expect his reps to increase as the week grows. But we wanted to get him out there moving around and get people around him and throw the football around a little bit. I fully expect him to continue to progress through the week unless we hit something that we're not predicting. I fully expect him to be fine."
Brantley is officially listed as "probable", and having him back at quarterback would be a huge boost to the Gators' offense. They have struggled during their last two games, scoring only 17 points against LSU and Auburn with backup Jacoby Brissett at the helm.
Brantley was originally injured back in early October against Alabama, and he's been working hard to recover from his high ankle sprain ever since. His injury has effectively sunk the Gators' season, but if the Gators can win out from here on, they can at least finish the season with a respectable line.

Florida 4-3 (2-3) will look to stop a three-game skid in the middle of their schedule, that coincides with the absence of starting quarterback John Brantley, against the resurgent Georgia Bulldogs 5-2 (4-1), in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party rivalry.
Florida will be getting a big boost with Brantley's return, but Georgia has looked tough since an 0-2 start had Georgia Coach Mark Richt fanning the flames from the backside of his pants. A Georgia win would put them on a collision course for an SEC East Title. A Florida win would put them back in the conversation
