Urban Meyer arrived in Gainesville to much fanfare and delivered for Gator Nation. The Florida Gators were a premier football program during his years there. But after retiring due to health concerns, and with the Gators struggling, he returns to the sidelines to coach Ohio State.

Updating a previous report, Urban Meyer has officially accepted the head coaching position at Ohio State. Meyer, a former Ohio State graduate assistant, will take over a Buckeye squad that recently lost to Michigan for the first time since 2003.
Meyer had previously won two SEC and BCS National Championships with the Florida Gators. In his six years at Florida, the Gators won 65 games, including five bowl wins. The only bowl game loss came to Michigan in the Capital One Bowl in former coach Lloyd Carr's last game.
Meyer has retired from football due to health and family reasons after the 2011 Outback Bowl victory over Penn State. Meyer had initially retired after the 2010 Sugar Bowl due to health concerns, but decided to come back and coach the Gators after some offseason rest.
The Buckeyes are coming off a 6-6 season and fourth place finish in the Leaders Division in the Big Ten. Ohio State was the subject of an NCAA investigation earlier this year and had their 2010 season vacated after it was revealed that five players exchanged memorabilia for tattoos and other merchandise.

Urban Meyer appears to be poised to return to coaching, possibly with Ohio State. Is he a traitor or just part of the coaching carousel?

Amid rumors and reports of Urban Meyer accepting the head coaching position with Ohio State, ESPN has decided to pull Urban Meyer off the broadcast of the upcoming Ohio State-Michigan game.
Doug Lesmerises of The Plain Dealer reported that Urban Meyer will not be present for ESPN/ABC’s broadcast of the game.
The former Florida coach creating a lot of OSU talk in recent days won’t broadcast the Ohio State-Michigan game for ESPN/ABC on Saturday, though his regular broadcasting partners Dave Pasch and Chris Spielman will be on the call. Meyer did help broadcast the Buckeyes’ opener this season against Akron.
His regular broadcast partners will be there, but Meyer will be absent? At this point, no amount of denials coming from Meyer will slow down the rumors. It sounds like Meyer and ESPN know more about the situation than they have led on.
So where will Meyer be on Saturday if not in Ann Arbor for the game?
“We felt the studio in Bristol was the best place for him given the many storylines and top matchups going on in college football this weekend,” ESPN said in a statement.
Perhaps one of those storylines will be an announcement confirming the reports that pushed him out of the booth for the game.
