Florida Vs. Syracuse 2011: Gators Visit Orange In Top-10 Showdown

The No. 10 Gators meet the No. 4 Orange for the fourth time in history, but the first time not on a neutral court.

Dec 2, 2011 - The No. 10 Florida Gators (5-1) visit the No. 4 Syracuse Orange (7-0) on Friday night in a clash of two of the country's top teams.

The Gators have cruised in their last four games since losing to the Ohio St. Buckeyes on Nov. 15, winning each by an average of 30 points. That streak includes Monday's 96-70 drubbing of the Stetson Hatters, coach Billy Donovan's 400th career win. Bradley Beal's 22 points led five Florida players in double-figure scoring as the Gators blew away the Hatters from beyond the arc: the Gators shot 14-of-35 on three-pointers while limiting Stetson to 1-of-17 from long distance. That performance continued Florida's season-long hot streak on three-pointers, as the team has made at least 10 treys in each of its six games.

Syracuse last played on Tuesday, handing the Eastern Michigan Eagles an 84-48 defeat. Backup forward James Southerland led the Orange with 19 points in 19 minutes to help his club stay undefeated on the young season. Darrell Lampley was the lone Eagle to score in double figures, contributing 19 points for the visitors.

The Gators own a 1-2 all-time record against the Orange, with each game played at a neutral site. Tipoff is set for 7 Eastern on ESPN.
