Gator Bowl 2012: Florida Vs. Ohio State In The Urban Meyer Bowl

The Florida Gators will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2012 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, but most of the attention will be focused on Urban Meyer.

Just one year after leaving Florida and just one week after taking the Ohio State job, it appears that Urban Meyer's former team will play his future team this January in Jacksonville at the 2012 Gator Bowl.

On Sunday night, the Gator Bowl officially announced that they had chosen the Buckeyes and Gators to play at EverBank Field on January 2nd. While both teams have struggled mightily this season, there will certainly be plenty of attention centered on this game, with Urban Meyer the focus. Mike Patrick and Craig James will call the game for ESPN so expect plenty of Meyer discussion.

Both of these historical powerhouses finished .500, with 6-6 records. A big reason for their struggles fell at the feet of their respective offenses, who were woeful under Jim Bollman and Charlie Weis. But the excitement surrounding this game surely won't be concerned with what's happening on the field.

Game date, time:1:00 pm ET, Monday, January 2nd

Location:EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL

TV channel: ESPN2/ESPN3
