2011 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16: VCU and Florida State Head To Overtime

Stay connected for news and updates

Big rally by the Seminoles, as James Singleton’s three-pointer with 46 seconds to go tied the game at 65 and we head to overtime in this Southwest Regional Semifinal.

VCU had a couple of decent looks to take the lead, but Florida State’s defense came through late, and led to a shot clock violation and a huge Bernard James block which gave the Noles a chance to win it. Derwin Kitchen had the ball late, but dribbled off too much time, and a desperation jumper had no chance to go in with time expiring.

VCU is in serious foul trouble with leading scorer Bradford Burgess with 4 fouls, while Jamie Skeen, Joey Rodriguez, and Darius Theus all have three fouls for Shaka Smart’s club. The Seminoles aren’t in as bad of shape with Okaro White with 4 fouls and Chris Singleton with 3.

The winner of this battle will face Kansas in the Regional Final Sunday.
