Alabama Clobbers Florida 38-10, Gators May Have Lost Brantley

A dismal night for the Florida Gators got worse as not only were they walloped by the 3rd ranked Alabama Crimson Tide but starting QB John Brantley suffered an apparent knee injury and could be lost for the season.

Alabama dominated Florida, rushing for 226 yards and shutting down the vaunted Florida running game, holding them to a paltry 15 yards.

Brantley looked good for the majority of the first half, connecting on Andre Dubose for an early 65 yard score but his interception seemed to turn the game around, giving Alabama their first lead of the ballgame with a 45 yard return for a touchdown by defensive lineman Courtney Upshaw.

Brantley would leave the game late in the first half as he appeared to injury his knee on a sack. Brantley finished 11 of 16 for 190 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

His replacement, true Freshman Jeff Driskel struggled to sustain drives, tucking the ball and running several times during the game. Florida did not threaten the powerful Bama defense the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, Alabama would add a few more scores to put the game out of reach.

Florida falls to 4-1 (2-1 in the SEC) and has to travel to face #1 LSU next week.

Florida QB John Brantley’s foot was caught in the turf as he was turned around and sacked.

Brantley had to be helped off the field and was taken straight to the locker room. It doesn’t look good for the Gators’ starting QB.
