Ronald Darby, a consensus Four-Star recruit, has committed to the Florida St. Seminoles, announcing the news on television on National Signing Day 2012. Darby, who played for Potomac High School, chose FSU over USC, Auburn, Clemson and North Dakota, the four other finalists for his services.
During the live announcement of his decision on ESPNU, Darby said, "I prayed on it and I had to follow my heart and I'll be attending Florida State University. They're known for having two-sport athletes...they worked everything out perfectly."
Darby had zeroed in on FSU on National Signing Day after also considering USC and Clemson. Darby previously had a verbal commitment with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but pulled out of that commitment in January.
Darby was the second-highest cornerback in the Rivals rankings, trailing only Tracy Howard. He joins a Seminoles squad that has also picked up the No. 1 defensive tackle prospect in the country, Eddie Goldman. The 'Noles defense definitely seems poised to make waves in the next couple of years.
