After losing two straight, the Gators got a solid performance from Patric Young on the interior and defeated Alabama on the road.
After losing two straight SEC games last week, the Florida Gators bounced back on Tuesday night with a solid 61-52 road win over Alabama. The Gators did not shoot particularly well but got a strong performance from Patric Young on the interior and clamped down on the defensive end, forcing 17 Crimson Tide turnovers. Alabama was a ranked team headed for the tournament but is now on the bubble after a tumultuous conference season.
Young had one of his best games of the season on the offensive end, finishing with 19 points. Freshman Brad Beal had another solid game on the glass and the scoreboard, grabbing eight boards and filling it up with 14 points. Erik Murphy also had a nice night for Billy Donovan's club, hitting four three-pointers and adding 14 points. The Gators needed Young and Beal to step up as Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton were off all night.
Florida now heads back west to face Arkansas this weekend, looking to start another conference winning streak.

After two straight losses to Kentucky and Tennessee, the Florida Gators look to get back to their winning ways against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa Tuesday night. It won't be easy for the Gators as they still have lingering injury issues to a pair of their top reserves.
Forward Will Yeguete is still recovering from a concussion sustained in the Gators last game against Tennessee. Guard Mike Rosario, who averages 7.9 points per game, will miss his fifth straight game. For the Crimson Tide, their two top scorers, forwards JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell are suspended for this game, taking away a combined 27.2 points and 14.2 rebounds per game.
Despite not having those two, Crimson Tide guards Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele will likely play tonight according to coach Anthony Grant. Those players will hope to continue success at Coleman Coliseum where the Tide has won 10 of their last 12 games, and have surrendered a mere 56.9 points per game at home.
The game will tip off at 7 p.m. with television coverage on ESPN, and streaming online on ESPN3.com.
VIDEO: Brad Beal Throws Down Emphatic Dunk In Florida's Win Over Alabama
by Brendan Porath
Bradley Beal continued to fill the highlight reel of his remarkably successful freshman campaign on Tuesday night. Beal, who had one of the dunks of the year in college just two weeks ago against South Carolina, had yet another "and-1" dunk against Alabama. This time, Beal went up and threw down on the Crimson Tide's seven-foot Moussa Gueye. It was an awesome individual effort as it appeared Beal was trapped right at the timeline but the freshman guard split the trap and went right down the middle of the lane before a hapless Gueye tried to challenge at the rim. It was an emphatic ending to a solid road win for Billy Donovan's Gators.
