The Florida Gators couldn't shoot to save their lives in the first half, but went into the locker room with an eight-point lead. It shouldn't be the least bit surprising, then, that they were able to blow out the Virginia Cavaliers once they figured out how to put the ball in the basket. Kenny Boynton did not make a three in the game, but the Gators bench was fantastic in their 71-45 win.
Patric Young was 6-6 with 13 points off the bench, while Casey Prather was 6-7 for 14 points. Virginia didn't live up to their reputation for playing great defense and slowing the game down, as Florida shot 53 percent and scored 71 points even though they were only 4-23 from beyond the arc. It was simply a bad day for Tony Bennett's team, who will go home disappointed.
Florida moves on to face the winner of Friday afternoon's Missouri - Norfolk State game.
