The Florida Gators will take on the Georgetown Hoyas on a U.S. Naval ship in Jacksonville, Fla., according to a report.
The Florida Gators basketball schedule was released a little while ago and had some interesting match ups on the slate in Wisconsin and Marquette. There were hints however that Florida would have one other mystery opponent left on their schedule and it's finally been revealed.
The Florida Gators will take on the Georgetown Hoyas on Nov. 9, but it won't be a typical match up in a neutral location. The two teams will face off on the in Jacksonville, Fla. on a U.S. Navy carrier ship, according to a report by Andy Katz of ESPN.
Florida will play Georgetown on a ship Nov. 9 off the coast of Jacksonville, Fla., multiple SEC and Big East sources confirmed Friday to ESPN.com.
The U.S. Navy has told the two schools that it is fully supportive of the game, much as it was with the Carrier Classic last year, according to multiple sources.
The trend of playing on U.S. Navy ships has become a neat trend in the world of college basketball. The matchup between Florida and Georgetown will be the third game on a U.S. Naval ship on Nov. 9.
