Carrier Classic, Florida Vs. Georgetown: Ticket Packages Released

The ticket packages to attend the Carrier Classic between the Florida Gators and Georgetown Hoyas have been released and you're going to have to drop a pretty penny if you hope to get on to the deck of a carrier ship in Jacksonville, FL this year.

According to Mark Long of the Associated Press, in order to buy a ticket you must also purchase a "sponsorship package" that makes the cheapest tickets $1,000. With a sponsorship package, the buyer will be buying four tickets for military personnel and a pair of tickets for the Thursday night football game between the Jaguars and Colts on November.

The Carrier Classic will take place on Friday, November 9.

Carrier Classic, Florida Vs. Georgetown: Tickets Could Be Packaged With Jaguars Tickets

Tickets for the 2012 Carrier Classic between the Florida Gators and George Hoyas, scheduled to be played on Nov. 9 off the coast of Jacksonville, Fla., will include in a package deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars' Nov. 8 Thursday night divisional matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Jacksonville Sports and Entertainment executive director Alan Verlander said pricing would be made available later this week.

"We are working on it," Verlander said. "There is a way to sell tickets, per se, but NAS Mayport can't sell tickets on base. So we're working on a package deal right now involving the Jaguars."

Seating capacity on the deck of the aircraft carrier is expected to be around 8,000, with about 3,000 seats for military members, veterans and their families.

Carrier Classic 2012: Florida Put Game Together In A Month

One would think that a big event such as the Carrier Classic being played on an aircraft carrier would take months of advanced planning.

Wrong.

According to Gator Nation, promoters said that the idea only came up roughly a month ago, and the team immediately began reworking its schedule to be able to pull it off. It wasn't until just earlier this week that Florida was able to get Georgetown to be able to play.

After shuffling some teams around, Florida's schedule will look dramatically different than first believed for 2012-2013. Florida was supposed to open the season on Nov. 9 against Central Florida, but that game was moved to Nov. 23 to open up the date. The hodge-podge of games at the end of November led Florida to move their contest with Yale to Jan. 6.

All in all, it is an impressive feat to pull off in order for the once-in-a-lifetime event to happen.
