The media has deliberated and released the results of their predictions for the 2012 SEC football season including the favorites to win the SEC. The Florida Gators finished third in the rankings of the SEC East behind the Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks, respectively, while also finishing seventh in the full SEC rankings.
Also released on Thursday were the selections for the preseason 2012 All-SEC team with just one first-team selection for the Gators. Only kicker Caleb Sturgis earned a first-time selection while three UF players found themselves on the second-team defense. Sharrif Floyd, Jon Bostic and Matt Elam each earned the honor while returner Andre Debose earned a spot on the second-team specialist ranks.
Rounding out the list of Gators was Dominique Easley and Jelani Jenkins, along with Xavier Nixon who was the sole offensive player from UF to earn All-SEC recognition.

Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp took to the podium on Wednesday morning, taking his turn in front of a thousand ravenous reporters at SEC Media Days. He started off with some good news for Gators fans.
Muschamp told the crowd that Ronald Powell was ahead of schedule, but he did not give a timetable for his return. The promising defensive end has been cleared to lift weights and run in a straight line as part of his rehab. Powell had his ACL repaired at the end of April after tearing it in the team's spring game.
After an update on Powell and a proclamation that the Gators have a "solid foundation" despite their 7-6 record last season, Muschamp launched into a position by position overview of his team. Among the most notable highlights was an update on the quarterback competition.
Muschamp said that both Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett will see an equal amount of snaps in camp. The coach wants to pick his starter before the season begins.
All SEC Media Day activity can be seen as it will be broadcast on ESPN3.com, shown on TV on ESPNU and broadcast live on Youtube here.
