The Gators check in at No. 23 in the Associated Press top 25 college football rankings.
The Florida Gators got some national love in the top 25 as the Associated Press included them in the their preseason top 25 rankings. The Gators were the sixth team from the SEC to make the list. Florida was not included in Sports Illustrated top 25 list which was released earlier in the week.
The Gators finished the 2011 season 7-6 while going 3-5 in the SEC (third in the SEC East) and earning a trip to the Gator Bowl where they faced off against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Florida won the game 24-17.
Florida started off the season last year winning their first four games but then went on a slide, losing their next four contests. They would fail to string together consecutive victories for the rest of the season, winning every other game in their last five contests.
