End of the Second, Panthers still trail

The Blues controlled most of the second period, effectively killing off Florida’s penalties, outshooting the Cats on a three minute power play to open the period.
Chris Porter scored his first goal of the season to put the Blues up 2-1. An off balance goal by T.J. Oshie was waved off due to a questionable goalie interference call.
The period closed with Jaroslav Halak shutting down several good scoring chances by the Panthers on their third power play of the evening, including a minute of 4-on-3 action.

Chris Porter took a bad turnover from the Cats and made another unassisted goal, putting the Blues on top 2-1.

Tied after one.

The Cats and the Blues end the first tied 1-1. David Backes scored an unassisted goal against the Cats, and Mike Santorelli returned the favor 7 minutes later with an unassisted goal of his own.
The period ends with both teams fielding four skaters, to be followed by a three minute power play for Florida. Sean Bergenheim sits out two-minutes for roughing and Scott Nichol gets a five-minute major and a game misconduct for spearing.
