The Florida Panthers headed to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Hurricanes with the hopes of extending their five-game winning streak to six-games, but were stopped in their tracks by the Hurricanes. Eric Staal picked up his 22nd goal of the season to give the Canes an early 1-0 lead in the first period.
In the second period, Joni Pitkanen picked up another goal for the Hurricanes to put them up 2-0. The Panthers were able to pick up a goal from Tomas Fleischmann to pull within a goal, but Eric Staal struck again picking up another goal to put the Hurricanes up 3-1 in the third period, and that was enough to seal the victory for the Canes, snapping the Panthers five-game winning streak.
