US PRESSWIRE

The Mercer Bears upset the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday.

Sunday was a relatively quiet day in Florida's college basketball landscape, but the Florida State Seminoles did suffer a rather shocking 61-56 loss to the Mercer Bears at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Both squads struggled offensively, but Florida State was especially bad, shooting just 35.4 percent from the field. The Seminoles trailed for much of the second half after the game was tied at halftime. Florida State got within one in the final minute, but Mercer's Travis Smith and Langston Hall hit two free throws apiece to seal the game.

Smith and Hall both scored in double figures for Mercer. Smith led the Bears with 13 points, although he shot just 2-of-9 from the field. Hall scored 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting and added five assists as well as five steals.

Okaro White led Florida State with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Leading scorer Michael Snaer managed just seven points in the loss. The Seminoles dropped to 4-3.
