After a rough start for the Jaguars in Week 7 that featured two key offensive players going down with the injuries, they finished the first quarter with a 7-3 lead after Blaine Gabbert found Cecil Shorts III for a 42-yard touchdown.
On the first offensive series of the game both running back Maurice Jones-Drew and starting offensive lineman Uche Nwaneri went down with leg injuries. Both were ruled as questionable for a return, although Nwaneri returned later in the quarter whil Jones-Drew was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury.
The Jaguars defense held the Raiders to a short field goal after a long pass play from Carson Palmer to Darius Heyward-Bey put Oakland in the red zone. On the next possession, the Jaguars offense came to life with Rashad Jennings playing in the place of Jones-Drew.
Shorts in particular was a go-to target for Gabbert as he hauled in a 19-yard pass for a first down before a 42-yard touchdown to give the Jaguars the lead.
