Jaguars Vs. Ravens: Reaction To Jacksonville's Upset Win

There is so much parity in the NFL that it's hard to ever call any win an upset, but the Jacksonville Jaguars 12-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football certainly qualifies as that. Heading into the game the Jaguars were just 1-5 and the Ravens were in the conversation for best team in the AFC. Every single one of the people on ESPN's pregame show (and there are lots) picked the Ravens to win.

But to steal a line from Chris Berman, "that is why they play the games." The Jaguars were stingy on defense and their offense created just enough scoring chances for Josh Scobee to put them on top. The Ravens scored a late touchdown, but their offense was so anemic throughout the first three and a half quarters, but at that point it didn't matter. When I'm looking for reaction to a Jacksonville Jaguars game, particularly a win, I go to our Jaguars blog Big Cat Country.

The Jacksonville Jaguars showed up on Monday Night Football with everyone expecting a bloodbath against the Baltimore Ravens. A bloodbath is what everyone in the country got, but of the Ravens variety. The Jaguars defense completely shutdown and stifled the Ravens offense, allowing only 146 yards on offense. Total. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was harassed all game long, being sacked three times and hit a total of six times. For much of the night, Flacco either couldn't hit the broadside of a barn or the Ravens receivers couldn't find a way to get open against the Jaguars secondary.

The Jaguars aren't going to have a lot of wins this year, so any statement win like this one is certainly welcomed.
