Maurice Jones-Drew Fantasy Update: Jaguars Running Back Has Another Big Game On Monday Night Football

While the Jaguars may have been blown out at home by the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night, the NFL's leading rushing, Maurice Jones-Drew came to play and delivered yet again for his fantasy owners. The versatile Jones-Drew had another big game both on the ground and in the air.

MJD finished with 20 carries for 97 yards, with rookie Blaine Gabbert and the Jags' offense leaning heavily on the Pro Bowler. Gabbert target Jones-Drew eight times, more than any other Jacksonville pass-catcher. As a result, MJD led the team with six catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. It was another productive night for the brightest start on the Jaguars roster.

Jaguars Vs. Chargers: Jacksonville Loses On Monday Night Football, 38-14, To San Diego

A big night from Philip Rivers and a scoreless second half by the Jaguars resulted in a 24 point home loss to the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football. The Jags could not re-create the Monday night magic from earlier in the season, when they upset the Baltimore Ravens on the primetime national stage.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers finished the evening with 294 yards and three touchdowns. The Jaguars defensive backfield has been hobbled all year. Even the backups are dealing with injuries at this point, and Rivers targeted Ashton Youboty and company en route to a big evening for San Diego. A Ryan Matthews 31 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter added to the lead, icing the 38-14 win for the Chargers.

One week after being benched by Jack Del Rio, quarterback Blaine Gabbert went 19 of 33 for 195 yards. He threw two touchdowns in the second quarter, as the Jags responded to an early 10-0 deficit to take the lead. Rivers, however, would answer right back with two touchdown passes of his own, both coming with under two minutes remaining in the half. San Diego would never look back, as the Jags offense went dormant again in the second half.

Jacksonville now sits at 3-9 with four games remaining for interim coach Mel Tucker. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit next Sunday.

Jaguars Vs. Chargers Score Update: Philip Rivers Adds Third Touchdown Of Night For 31-14 Lead

Philip Rivers is having his best game of the season on Monday Night Football at EverBank Field. The Chargers quarterback has lit up the Jaguars for 294 yards and three touchdowns through the first three quarters. Rivers, who leads the league in interceptions thrown, has not thrown a pick all night, and has missed on only six attempts.

In the third quarter, Rivers connected with Malcolm Floyd on a 52 yard bomb to give the Chargers a 31-14 lead. Floyd beat backup cornerback Ashton Youboty, who has been targeted and torched all evening by Rivers and company. As for the Jags offense, Blaine Gabbert and the dink-and-dunk passing game was shutout after a two touchdown second quarter. Maurice Jones-Drew is having another big night, but once again he is the only Jacksonville player making much of an impact on offense.

Jaguars Vs. Chargers Score Update: San Diego Leads 24-14 After One Half Of Monday Night Football

The San Diego Chargers will receive the kick off to start the second half with a ten point lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chargers added a late touchdown with just 23 seconds remaining in the first half, when Philip Rivers went over the top to hit Vincent Jackson for a 35 yard touchdown pass. The Chargers quarterback had a big first half, throwing for 200 plus yards and two touchdowns through thirty minutes.

After falling behind 10-0, the Jaguars battled back with two unanswered touchdowns to take a 14-10 lead. Maurice Jones-Drew got the Jags on the board first, taking a nine yard pass from Blaine Gabbert into the end zone. Gabbert then hit Cecil Shorts on a fade to the corner of the end zone for the lead. Shorts was interfered with on the play but still held on. The pass was perfectly placed by Gabbert, who finished the first half 11 of 15 for 139 yards.

But Philip Rivers would ensure the lead was short-lived, as he came right back with his two touchdown drives to put San Diego back on top, 24-14.

Chargers Vs. Jaguars Score Update: San Diego Leads 10-7 In First Half Of Monday Night Football

The San Diego Chargers took a 7-0 lead after the first quarter at EverBank Field on Monday Night Football. The Chargers got on the board first when Mike Tolbert took it in from thirteen yards out. It was the longest touchdown run in Tolbert's four year career. Video of the touchdown is run below.

The Chargers would add a field goal on their second drive to extend their lead to 10-0. Jacksonville would respond on their next possession to cut the deficit to three points. Maurice Jones-Drew finished a 12 play, 79 yard drive with a nine yard touchdown catch from Blaine Gabbert. After being benched last week in Jack Del Rio's final game, Gabbert is 6 of 7 for 59 yards so far mid way through the second quarter.

Chargers Vs. Jaguars: Time, TV Schedule, Radio Streaming And More

Despite struggling through much of the year, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be hosting their second Monday Night Football game of the year when they welcome the San Diego Chargers to Jacksonville on Monday Night.

This might have looked like an intriguing matchup before the year for the schedule makers, but at this point in the season, both of these teams are playing uninspired football. The Chargers have lost six straight games after a very good start. Meanwhile, the Jaguars have benched their rookie qurterback, fired their head coach and sold the team, all in the span of a couple days.

The Chargers certainly have the talent to win this game, and they will most likely be favored, but the way both teams are playing, and considering how the Jaguars played in their last Monday Night game against the Ravens, who knows what will happen. Here is where you can find this game.

Game Date/Time: Monday, December 5; 8:00pm ET

Location: EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FLA

TV Schedule
National: ESPN

Jaguars Injury Report: Matt Roth And Aaron Kampman Doubtful

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a banged up football team, placing their lead leading 20th player on injured reserver earlier today, cornerback William Middleton with a knee injury. The team could be without two defensive ends as well with Matt Roth and Aaron Kampman being listed as doubtful. Kampman has been dealing with a hamstring injury while Roth is still recovering from a concussion he suffered against the Cleveland Browns.

The team could get back a big boost however, with defensive tackle Terrance Knighton coming back to practice from an ankle injury that has kept him out since the bye week. The team also had ten other players listed as probable for the game, all of which are expected to play.

Jacksonville was already without starting corners Rashean Mathis and Derek CoxAshton Youboty will start in place of Middleton on Monday. David Jones was placed on injured reserve by the Jaguars prior to the season, but reached a settlement and was released. Jones started a few games for Jacksonville in 2010 when Derek Cox was injured.

Jaguars Injury Report, Week 13: Jacksonville Enters Monday Night Matchup With Injuries In Defensive Backfield

On Friday afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars had four new names on their injury report. The Jags face a spiraling San Diego Chargers team which is looking to end a six game losing streak. But on Friday, both Ashton Youboty and William Middleton were listed on the injury report. Middleton was the only player listed who did not practice at all on Friday, suffering an apparent knee injury during Thursday's practice.

Youboty was limited in practice on Friday with a hip injury. As it is, both corners were already replacing the injured Rashean Mathis and Derek Cox. Also in the secondary, rookie Chris Prosinksi was limited due to a hamstring injury. In his first game, the injuries in an already depleted secondary will certainly present a challenge to interim coach Mel Tucker in his coaching debut in primetime on Monday night.

Jaguars Waive Receiver Jason Hill

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made plenty of changes over the past 48 hours and today was no different. The team announced today that veteran wide receiver Jason Hill had been waived. The Jaguars signed Hill to a two year contract extensions in the offseason, worth $1.75 million. Hill was claimed by the Jaguars last season after he was waived by the San Francisco 49ers, who originally drafted Hill.

In the 2010 season, Hill appeared in six games catching 11 passes for 248 yards and one touchdown. In 2011, Hill started 10 games but caught just 25 passes for 367 yards and three touchdowns. Hill had trouble holding on to the football and his route running had been sloppy. Two weeks ago against the Cleveland Browns, Hill dropped a could be game winning touchdown pass from rookie Blaine Gabbert.

Wide receivers Jarett Dillard and rookie Cecil Shorts III are expected to get more reps with the release of Hill.

Jaguars Fire WR Coach Johnny Cox

The Jacksonville Jaguars today have fired their wide receivers coach Johnny Cox, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The move isn't much of a surprise, as the Jaguars receiver corps has been woefully disappointing this season and there have been murmors but how bad the coaching was. The receivers route running had been horrible, and Pete Prisco stated on his radio show that Cox had refused to play rookie receiver Cecil Shorts III, which wasn't met kindly with the front office. The Jaguars have also moved Mike Sheppard off of quarterback coaching duties and to wide receiver duties, who he has worked with before.

This means that Sheppard will be pulled off the quarterback coach duties, which will fall now on offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. There had been some talk that Gabbert was being poorly coached, according to Pete Prisco. Koetter has experience dealing with quarterbacks in the past, and often coached them in past jobs. Koetter, as far as I know, will continue to be the offensive coordinator and call the plays, it just means he will work more closely with quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
