Jaguars Release Jarett Dillard

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a bit of a surprising move on Monday, releasing wide receiver Jarett Dillard the team announced. Dillard was originally a fourth round pick by the Jaguars in the 2009 NFL Draft, but struggled to ever really make an impact outside of OTA's and training camp.

Dillard wowed most with his soft hands and leaping ability, but could never stay healthy enough to play a full season. Dillard injured his foot his rookie season and then injured it again the next offseason, missing the entire 2010 NFL season.

The Jaguars signed a handful of rookie wide receivers after also picking up Lee Evans and Laurent Robinson in free agency, not to mention trading up for Justin Blackmon in the NFL Draft. Dillard's salary increased this offseason due to an escalator in his deal, so it was unlikely he was going to make the roster anyway.
