Maurice Jones-Drew Wanted To Be An Astronaut

You always hear tales of what football players wanted to be growing up, that didn't including being a football player. Most of them wind up saying they'd want to do social work or work with children, some even say they'd want to be a teacher. Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew didn't want to do any of those things.

He wanted to go to space.

In a recent round table for Sports Illustrated with Dennis Dillon, Jones-Drew revealed what he would have been without football.

If you didn't play football, what would you do?

Jones-Drew: I wanted to become an astronaut. That's why I went to UCLA, because of their engineering program. I tried it, but football and engineering didn't work out. They didn't seem to be compatible.

Adrian Peterson and Michael Turner were the other two running backs that were part of the roundtable. Peterson said he'd have been an entrepreneur while Turner said he'd have been an athletic director at a high school.
