Negotiations between the Jacksonville Jaguars and their first-round pick Justin Blackmon took a little longer as the team tried to extract protections in the deal following the wide receiver's DUI arrest in Oklahoma this summer. According to Pro Football Talk, the Blackmon's deal defers 40 percent of his signing bonus.
Blackmon's deal is worth $18.5 million over four years. He gets $7.11 million of his signing bonus right away, with the rest coming in subsequent seasons. It breaks down like this:
In 2013, Blackmon is due to receive a roster bonus of $1.7 million, with $700,000 due on the fifth day of the league year and the rest due before the start of training camp. In 2014, $1.7 million is due on the fifth day of the league year. The last installment of $1.39 million is due on the fifth day of the 2015 league year.
The base salaries are $390,000 in 2012, $1.23 million in 2013, $2.07 million in 2014, and $2.91 million in 2015.
The deal is guaranteed with no offset language, but does still manage to give the team some protection in the event that he is suspended in that future guarantees go away.

Terms of first-round pick Justin Blackmon's deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars lineup lineup with his slot as the fifth pick. Blackmon signed a four-year, $18.5 million contract with the team. Because of the delay in getting his deal done, the rookie wide receiver will not put on pads for a few days and will miss the preseason opener against the New York Giants.
turns out the blackmon deal is $18.5, not $19.5. and he can't put on pads till 4th day so will miss giants' game.

Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals, last year's fifth pick, signed a four-year deal worth $18.43 million.
He is expected to report to training camp on Tuesday.
The Jaguars had reportedly been seeking some protections in the deal follow Blackmon's offseason arrest in Oklahoma for driving while intoxicated. There are no further details pertaining to his contract at this time.

Terms of his contract have not yet been announced.
Blackmon was drafted by the Jaguars with the No. 5 back in April in the 2012 NFL Draft. The reason that has yet to sign his rookie deal, probably stems from his DUI arrest in Stillwater, Okla. back in June. Despite this signing, Blackmon will likely not play for the Jaguars' in their first preseason game against the New York Giants on Friday.
