Jaguars Vs. Vikings Preview: Jacksonville Opens Season On Road

The Jaguars open the 2012 season against an NFC team dealing with a lot of the same question marks.

Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder were both seen by many as reaches at the top of the first round in 2011; the two inconsistent young QB's will face off against each other in the first game of the Jacksonville Jaguars' season.

As a rookie, Gabbert completed only 50.8 percent of his passes, throwing for 2,214 yards, 12 TD's and 11 INTs. Ponder wasn't much better, completing 54.3 percent of his passes for 1,853 yards, 13 TDs and 13 INTs.

Perhaps the most interesting storyline for the Jaguars will be Maurice Jones-Drew, who ended his holdout a week before the start of the regular season. He did not receive a contract extension, but he did get to miss training camp, so there is that.

The situation for the star RB on the other side of the field, Adrian Peterson, is just as unsettled. Peterson, who is recovering from a season-ending ACL injury and did not play in the preseason, will probably be a game-time decision on Sunday.
