Derek Cox Injury: Jaguars CB Likely Out Vs. Vikings

Stay connected for news and updates

When the Jacksonville Jaguars open their 2012 NFL season against the Minnesota Vikings, they may be without one of their key players in the secondary. Derek Cox injured his left hamstring in Jacksonville's preseason opener and hasn't been available since.

Head coach Mike Mularkey spoke on the availability of Cox after the team's practice on Monday and confirmed that he won't be available in Week 1 and Will Middleton will start at cornerback in his stead:

(Any chance Derek Cox will play Sunday?)

"Probably not as we speak here. I want to see how he feels
after doing what he did. Even as little as he did today I want to see how he feels tomorrow."

(William Middleton will start?)

"Yes."
