Dolphins vs. Jets 2012: Game preview, kickoff time, TV schedule and more

Joel Auerbach

The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets face off in a key AFC East battle Sunday.

The well-rested Miami Dolphins host the New York Jets on Sunday in what's sure to be a heated, physical game. The Jets took the first meeting of the season, 23-20, with the game coming down to a narrowly missed field goal and an ill-timed timeout by Miami. Words from both sides are likely to have the players on edge for the rematch.

Prior to the Week 3 game, Jets head coach Rex Ryan noted that his defense wanted to put some "hot sauce" on Dolphins running back Reggie Bush. Bush took that as meaning they were trying to injure him, and he would leave the game in the first half after a hard hit from safety LaRon Landry. Later in the game, Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis tore his ACL, forcing him out for the season. Bush implied that was karmic justice for Ryan's comments, and things have continued from there.

When the talking is over, Miami's defense will need to put forth their best effort. The Dolphins have one of the league's best defenses against the run, giving up only 469 yards in their six games. That should come in handy against the ground-and-pound Jets, but recent performances from Mark Sanchez have shown that the Dolphins still have to be concerned about the deep ball. Miami ranks near the bottom of the league against the pass, giving up an average of 284 yards per game.

The Dolphins know how close they came to winning in Week 3. Expect an all-out effort to keep things from repeating themselves.

Game Time: 1 p.m. ET
Television Coverage: CBS
Odds: Jets favored by one point
