Miami Dolphins All-Time Top 100 Players: 50. Chris Chambers

Chambers ranks fourth all-time with 43 receiving touchdowns for Miami. For seven seasons he gave opposing defensive coordinators fits.

Chris Chambers was a 5'11" wide receiver for the University of Wisconsin Badgers and a second-team All-Big 10 selection in 2000. Miami chose him with their second round pick in the 2001 NFL Entry Draft with the 52nd overall pick.

Chambers had an immediate impact on Miami's offense, leading the NFL with 18.4 yards per reception during his rookie season. He led Miami with 883 receiving yards on a team third-best 48 catches for seven touchdowns, eclipsing the 100-yard mark on three separate occasions. Miami finished 11-5, losing the wildcard to the Baltimore Ravens, 20-3.

Miami missed the playoffs in 2002 with a 9-7 record. Chris Chambers led the team with 52 catches for 734 yards, scoring three touchdowns. He caught seven passes for a then career high of 134 yards in a week 14 victory over the Oakland Raiders, 23-17.

2003 would see Chambers continue to lead the Dolphin's offense, catching a team high 64 catches for 963 yards and an NFL third best 11 touchdowns. He scored a career high three touchdowns in a 40-21 week 12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Miami finished with a 10-6 record, but were the only AFC team with a winning record to miss the playoffs, on a tiebreaker to the Denver Broncos.

In 2004, Chambers again led the Dolphins with 898 receiving yards. He scored seven touchdowns on 69 passes as the Dolphins finished 4-12. He set a new career high with 146 receiving yards on only four catches in a week 16 loss to the Ravens, 30-23.

Chambers would earn his first Pro Bowl invitation with a career year in 2005, with a career high 82 receptions for 1,118 yards and 11 scores. In a week 12 24-23 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Chambers set franchise records with 15 receptions for 238 yards, scoring once. By this point, Miami had mastered the art of missing the playoffs despite posting an overall winning record, finishing 9-7.

In 2006, Chambers caught 55 balls for 677 yards and four touchdowns. Miami finished out a disappointing 6-10, qualifying only for an early offseason and a high draft pick. In a 24-10 week 12 loss to Jacksonville, Chambers gained a season high 121 yards on eight catches.

Chambers gained 415 yards on 31 catches through six games in 2007 before a trade made him a San Diego Charger for a second round pick in the 2008 draft (they selected defensive back Sean Smith). Chambers later also played for the Kansas City Chiefs before being released prior to the 2011 season. For Miami, he played a total of 100 games for Miami, catching 405 passes for a Dolphins fourth all-time 5,688 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Chambers made headlines for marrying his alleged stalker, Stacey Bernice Saunders, in 2010.
