Dolphins OTAs: Miami Looking For A WR To Emerge

The Miami Dolphins added a rookie quarterback in Ryan Tannehill with their 1st-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. They also added veteran David Garrard to a rotation that includes incumbent starter Matt Moore. Despite adding the quarterbacks, the Dolphins subtracted a top receiver when they sent Brandon Marshall to the Bears in the spring. This season, the coaching staff in Miami plans to take a committee approach to the position.

Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland told the Palm Beach Post that the team is counting on some of its younger players to step forward this year.

"We've got a lot of young guys that have a developmental ceiling; they haven't developed yet, and we're going to see that this year, hopefully."

Moore expressed confidence that the team's West Coast style system under Mike Sherman will help those younger players mature thanks to an emphasis on a wide open playing field. Nevertheless, it could be a risky play for the Dolphins desperately seeking some success in the AFC East this season.
