Chad Ochocinco Signs 1-Year Deal With Dolphins

Free agent wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported Monday night that the popular wideout and Miami native had come to terms on a deal that was more than the cap-friendly "minimum salary benefit" that was initially believed to be the likely agreement. Via Florio:

The Dolphins apparently opted not to use the minimum salary benefit. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Ochocinco's deal has a "multi-million-dollar incentive package."

Ochocinco was released by the Patriots less than week ago, with Bill Belichick cutting the cord at OTAs on Thursday in what appeared to be an amicable separation. Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Ochocinco wanted to return to his hometown and hopefully finish his career with the Dolphins. It didn't take long for the Fins to act, working him out on Monday and then coming to terms that night, if reports are accurate.

Regardless of on-field impact, he will instantly become the face of the franchise and be a central figure in the upcoming HBO Hard Knocks series that will feature the Dolphins and debut this August.
