Miami Dolphins Cut LB Sammy Brown

Stay connected for news and updates

The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday that they have cut linebacker Sammy Brown from the active roster, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Brown had been waived by the St. Louis Rams and claimed by the Dolphins on Sept. 1, but lasted just 10 days with the Dolphins before being waived again.

Brown, a rookie linebacker out of Houston, did not play for the Dolphins in Miami's 30-10 loss to the Texans.

As a senior linebacker in 2011 for the Houston Cougars, Brown racked up 89 tackles in 13 games, including 28 tackles for loss. Brown also tallied 12.5 sacks in 2011.

Miami also announced that Chris Hogan has been cut from the team's practice squad.

By cutting Brown, the Dolphins now have just 52 players on the 53-man active roster. We'll see if the Dolphins have another move up their sleeve, as they get ready to host the Oakland Raiders in Week 2.
