Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

Two of the NBA's best meet for a preseason matchup Saturday when the Spurs face the Heat in Miami.

Two teams that figure to be in the thick of the NBA title race this season square off for a preseason showdown Saturday when San Antonio Spurs face the Miami Heat in South Florida.

Even if they're a year older, the Spurs' window for a championship is still wide open as they return one of the deepest teams in the league while still trotting out stalwarts Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Boris Diaw, Richard Jefferson, Stephen Jackson and Kawhi Leonard round out a roster that should prove to be one of the NBA's best, meaning San Antonio isn't likely to leave its perch near the top of the Western Conference any time this season.

A good barometer to where the Spurs' title chances stand should come Saturday against the defending NBA champion Miami Heat, who are coming off a 105-78 drubbing of the Detroit Pistons on Thursday. Dwyane Wade appeared to have no issues with his injured knee, as he led Miami with 21 points while playing the first three quarters.

The Spurs haven't played since last Sunday, when they topped Houston 116-107. Both teams have won twice this preseason.

NBA TV is televising the game, which is set to tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
