The New York Knicks have jumped out to a first half lead over the Miami Heat, leading 55-44 after 24 minutes. The Knicks have repeatedly penetrated and kicked it out for a three, hitting 9 of 18 attempts. New York led by as many as 16, but the Heat were stronger in the second quarter and were able to pull within 11.
As you would expect, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are leading the Heat's response. James has 14 points and Wade 13, but 12 turnovers had the team on their heels throughout the half. In a moment emblematic of how the game has gone, the Heat gained the ball on a shot clock violation with 2.8 seconds left in the quarter. Shane Battier proceeded to throw it out of bounds, turning it right back over. Ray Allen has played 13 minutes off the bench but taken only three shots, missing all of them. As a team, the Heat are shooting 54.3 percent.
Carmelo Anthony had a great touch through the first half, shooting 7 for 19 including 4 for 7 on threes. The Knicks are also out in front of the heat on offensive boards, grabbing 10 rebounds on offense, compared four by the Heat at the other end.
