Nuggets vs. Heat 2012 results: Miami pulls out 119-116 win

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

A late three-pointer by Ray Allen, along with 40 points from Chris Bosh, pushed Miami over Denver on Saturday night.

Ray Allen drained a three-pointer with six seconds left in the game, then added a free throw, to help the Heat stun the Nuggets, 119-116, Saturday night in Miami. The big shot erased a similarly clutch basket by Andre Iguodala, who nailed a jumper with 14 seconds left to give Denver the temporary lead.

Allen provided the late heroics, but Chris Bosh did the heavy lifting for Miami, scoring 40 points and hauling down seven rebounds. LeBron James, meanwhile, came within a rebound of a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 11 assists and nine boards.

It was a back-and-forth battle all night, as the teams traded shots and leads. For Miami, it was Bosh who kept them in the game, as he hit 15 of his 22 shots and nine-of-10 free throws. The Nuggets countered with a balanced offensive attack, as seven of Denver's eight players scored in the double digits. Iguodala had 22 points, and Kenneth Faried added 22 points and 12 rebounds, 16 of those points coming in the first half.

For Miami, it was an off-night for Dwyane Wade, who scored only 14 points. He did contribute on the defensive end with four blocks. Allen scored 23 points off the bench in his third game for Miami, making six three-pointers. For the game, the Heat shot 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 52 percent from the floor overall. Denver also had a hot hand, making 52 percent of its shots, but was woeful from distance with just five of its 21 three-pointers made.

Now 2-1, Miami is off until Monday, when it hosts Phoenix. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
