Miami Heat Visit Detroit Pistons: Game 18 Preview

Miami hits the road for a quick trip to the Palace of Auburn Hills. Do the Pistons have enough horsepower to douse the Heat?

The Miami Heat will be visiting the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills tonight. It's the first of three meetings this season between the two teams, and the first of two they will play in Detroit. The Heat are 5-3 on the road, Detroit has a 3-6 home record. This game comes on the heels of a 4-1 homestand for the Heat. After this game, they return home for a three game homestand, featuring the New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls and the New Orleans Hornets. The Pistons are starting a short two game homestand. They go on to face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday before taking the road for a four game trip.

The two teams last met on March 23rd of last season. The Heat beat the Pistons in Detroit 100-94. The Heat were led by 24 from Dwyane Wade, 23 from Chris Bosh, and 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists from LeBron James. Richard Hamilton paced the Pistons with 27, while Greg Monroe grabbed 12 rebounds in the losing effort.

Miami beat the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, 92-85. The Heat were led by Chris Bosh with a season high 35 points. LeBron James added 18 and Udonis Haslem grabbed 10 boards for the Heat. Kyrie Irving led four Cavaliers in double figures with 17, while Anderson Varejao collected 11 rebounds.

Detroit was routed by the Oklahoma City Thunder, 99-79 on Sunday. The Pistons trailed 29-12 after the first quarter and 60-33 at the half, and were never a threat to win. Brandon Knight led four Pistons in double figures with 13 on the night. Russell Westbrook and James Harden both scored 24, while Kevin Durant added 20 in the Thunder victory.
