Current Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen could be leaving Boston when free agency begins. The Miami Heat is a possible destination for the veteran.
Although the NBA Finals have just started, free agency rumors have already begun to swirl. Current Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen has been rumored to be interested in leaving Beantown, according to Sports Illustrated NBA writer Chris Mannix and ESPNNewYork.com via an article on Pro Basketball Talk by Kurt Helin, Allen could be leaning towards coming to the Miami Heat.
Sports Illustrated's NBA writer Chris Mannix was told that the Knicks and Heat are at the top of his list. But a source very familiar with Allen's situation told ESPNNewYork.com that the Heat, as well as potentially the Clippers, will be more attractive to the five-time All-Star in the offseason because they're top teams that can offer more than the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million.
While the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers are possible destinations, the Heat would be an interesting landing spot for Allen. The Heat could always use another shooter on their team and Allen does have a little left in the tank given what he showed in the abbreviated season this year in Boston.
