Orlando Magic Plan To Pick Up J.J. Redick's Option For 2012-13 Season

The Orlando Magic are in a bit of a transitional period, but they're keeping one of their best bench players at a reasonable price. The team is expected to pick up their option on the final year of J.J. Redick's contract for the 2012-13 season.

Redick struggled offensively to start his NBA career, but he's developed into a very reliable player. He's a better perimeter defender than anyone expected him to become coming out of college, and he shot 42 percent from behind the arc last season, the best percentage of his career. Considering the current free agent market and Redick's production from last year, his $6 million salary is a good deal for both sides, with Redick perhaps coming out a slight winner.
