Phillies vs. Marlins: Game preview, TV time and more

The Marlins need a win on Friday to tie the season series at 8-8.

With the National League playoff race beginning its final week and many of the spots already decided, it is already guaranteed that two NL East teams will advance. However, neither of those teams are the Phillies or the Marlins, as both are eliminated from the playoffs.

On Friday, the two teams will play each other in game one of the final series of the season against each other. With not much incentive for either team, the Marlins would require a series sweep to earn a victory in the season series and two wins out of three to tie. The Phillies currently have the season series lead 8-7.

Slated to take the mound for the Marlins on Friday night is Mark Buehrle, looking for win No. 14 of the season to finish the year with a winning record. In his last start he allowed five hits and four earned runs in six innings to the Mets to earn a loss, bringing his record to 13-13.

He'll be facing Cliff Lee who managed to salvage some decent statistics for the 2012 season with a strong run in September. During the month he has allowed four earned runs in 36.1 innings pitched (a 0.99 ERA) and has posted a 3-1 record. However, with a 6-8 record for the year, it is likely that Lee will finish with a losing record.

Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m. ET at Marlins Park and will be televised on FOX Sports Florida.
